Extraordinary photo book of a magical island!
The pictures are absolutely exquisite! The book shows all of the places in Cozumel that are easy to see and memorable from any visit, no matter how short. But the real treasure is that it shows a side of Cozumel that even people living there rarely get to see. From the animals to the people, you will get to see Cozumel in a very special way. I will never forget walking on the street with the swallows stamped in the concrete; there is a photo of that street that is simply amazing. Every picture in the book is amazing! Cozumel is a magical place! If you have fallen in love with it from any visit, this is a great book to remember your trip by. If you want to visit Cozumel, this book will make sure you book your tickets. High quality photos and construction. Very well done throughout. Text is informative, not overwhelming. Focus of the book is the pictures and you can drink in the images. I can almost smell the ocean and feel the warmth of the sun. I will certainly remember the warmth of the people. Highly recommend.
Gorgeous Colorful Photo Book
What a treat! I purchased this book as a Christmas gift. Not only did it make a grand impression, but it was a big hit for many of our house guests during their stay. The heft, quality construction and colorful cover suggested the quality of the contents, and I was not disappointed. Beginning with the hardbound cover, a duplicate of the paper cover, right through the table of contents, nine chapters, the captions and credits, the quality, colors, and artistic composition delighted us. The chapters cover each of the five ecological zones, plus one each for street scenes, Mayan heritage, sea turtles, and butterflies. The forward, by Cristopher González-Baca, National Park Director, nicely sums up the delightful beauty of the work in capturing the islands fascinating scenes. My family and I have long been planning a trip to Cozumel, and now our anticipation is all the greater. As avid nature buffs, we can hardly wait. Until we get there though, this delightful work will be claiming a proud place on our coffee table and our laps. Its gorgeous depiction of the island’s tropical beauty should carry us through many a long northeastern winter’s day.
Beautiful and Unusual
A local friend on the island kindly gave us this book. What’s so uncommon about it is that it focuses, as the title suggests, on the island above the sea. Practically every other photo book of the island we have spends a lot of space on the underwater world that has made Cozumel famous. I love that, but that makes it hard to find great topside photos, and this book has them in abundance. Besides being filled beautiful photography, this book is well-produced and an object of beauty in its own right.
A Beautiful Reminder of a Place We Love
Bought this book while on the island and have ordered several more from Amazon as gifts. It is a stunning photo memory of beautiful Cozumel. After spending much of each winter on the island for more than 20 years, I was surprised at the things in this book that I had never seen. Makes me want to return for more exploration. Excellent quality. A wonderful gift….for others or for yourself. Highly recommend.
Beautiful book
I’ve traveled to Cozumel many times, and now, while I’m not there I can enjoy it while looking through this beautiful book. What great pictures. Worth every penny.
The most beautiful book of what Cozumel can offer!
Fabulous collection of the flora, fauna, architecture, and natural beauty of Mexico’s jewel of an island… Cozumel.
High praise for “Cozumel Above The Sea”
I ordered this book because I went to Cozumel in 2011 and I have wonderful memories of that trip. Cozumel is known for its underwater splendor, and as a scuba diver, I was not disappointed. But “Cozumel Above The Sea” has shown me how much more natural beauty exists on Mexico’s largest island. The photographs in this book are exceptional, and the photo credits in the back of the book give a brief description of every single image. This book is worth every cent I paid for it, and now I want to go back to Cozumel to explore areas I did not see on my previous trip. Paul, Tatjana, and Tania deserve a ton of recognition for their portrayal of a Cozumel few tourists will ever see. Their love and appreciation for the island – its people, culture, and nature – is revealed from cover to cover of “Cozumel Above The Sea”.
